However, I did like the meaning be hide this book and the relationship between the siblings so this is why i am giving it a 2. This all I have to say- I don't think I have to explain anymore as there is nothing more to explain or comment about, I'm sorry to those who liked it,but I really just didn't.

Also, the characters were really lovely however I didn't feel very attached to them because I felt like there wasn't enough time in the book. I know this is a middle grade book so it would evidently be short but I just wasn't expecting it to be so fast.

I wanted to see more of how close Olly and Matt were and gotten to know Olly more because it didn't tell me anything about her, only that she missed her brother.
Overall this book was okay. I feel like it could have been so much more but it wasn't. Jul 26, Derek rated it really liked it. A moving story of a brother, a sister and Olly's brother wants to go and work with children who have been made orphans, through war, in Africa. I would definitely recommend this book to a child in Key Stage 2 as some of the events that took place in the story may be a little too upsetting for those of a younger age. I would also suggest this book to someone once they have read 'Sky Hawk' as it is based around similar themes, so if you enjoyed reading that then give this a try!

Another excellent Morpurgo novel, he tackles some painful subjects with extreme humour and sensitivity, I challenge anyone not to be touched by this story. Jul 08, Hayley rated it liked it. Only then did I realise that there were about 10 pages of the book left, and it was basically pointless to get it.
I enjoyed it, but not as much as I hoped I would and the end felt somewhat lacking. Not all bad though, it was a fun read.
